Ben Fyffe is the Managing Director of Cultural Affairs & Recreation, overseeing two of the strongest drivers of quality of life, the Museums & Cultural Affairs Department (MCAD) and Parks & Recreation. Mr. Fyffe has over twenty years of public sector experience, largely in developing and producing community-facing programming and increasing arts access for El Pasoans. During his tenure with the City of El Paso he has helped secure State designation of the Downtown Arts District, opened four new community & recreation centers, overhauled grantmaking and support programs for local non-profits, increased tournaments and City sports league participation and developed the region’s largest arts and holiday festivals.
Mr. Fyffe was honored by the Texas Senate for his work in developing teaching artist residencies for underserved families in the Mission Valley. He has served fellowships at both the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the Smithsonian Latino Center. Mr. Fyffe earned a BA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin and his MPA from the University of Texas at El Paso, where he is a member of Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for public administration and policy.
